  • I just listened to this front to back. It sounds amazing. There is no distortion, no skipping no issues at all. In fact I have 4 double LP Pantera albums and they are perfect. This cowboys from hell release is exactly how Pantera is meant to be heard IMO. I own klipsch heresy II's, a pioneer amp and a technics turntable with a 70 dollar cartridge. I am sorry that virtually everyone here has had an issue with this release.

  • My copy of this was so unpleasant I gave it away.. lots of sibilance and ear-destroying high frequencies. the production on this record always sucked anyways in my opinion.

  • Absolutely the worst sounding thing I own in my collection

  • I have this copy, have as well high end tube system / speakers (hana sl cartridge mounted on high end turntable) system and this release breaking walls and smashing windows(and volume knob is at 3) .Have no issues with skipping or whatever .Playing and sound amazing ! You can hear all instruments , kick , bass line, separated properly / mastered good. This is no brainer release feel free to get it and enjoy this masterpiece !

  • Worst sounding LP I've ever owned, it's like someone cranked the high frequencies in the eq.

  • Mine is really fine, just a small skip during cemetery gates although I see one mistake. One the label of side three is printed as vulgar display of power although the songs are from cfh. Anyone else having the same problem ?

  • Man, this pressing is awful! I've had 3 copies through Amazon and they all skip on side 3! Has anyone gotten a copy that doesn't freaking skip!?

  • Yes my copy is fine but I bought it at a record store

  • Mine is skipping right at the beginning of side 3 but visually it looks perfect. I do see the needle move too so the 'skip' is not due to a scratch. It's like it was pressed that way. I'm throwing mine away. This is 4 copies I bought and I'm mad as hell. I bought the box set and it's actually WAY better than these 2 LP pressings. grrrrrr

  • My side 3 is way over distorted - like someone cranked the gain well beyond what it should be. All other 3 sides are great. I took it to the store for an exchange and they opened a new one in the store and we listened to it - same thing. Horrible distortion especially with Clash With Reality and Medicine Man. I hoped it was a bad copy but it's (at a minimum) a bad batch. Anyone else have the same issue? Like I said - sides A,B,D are great. :(

  • I went out and got the box set and, fortunately, the same problem is not there. They are single albums in the box set and a smidge more quiet. The only thing you really lose from the box set is Floods Pt. 1 from Trendkill and also the cooler artwork from Far beyond Driven so I kept those 2 of the double LPs, dumped the rest and got the box set. Worth it.

  • Same issue. Just found a used copy, Listened to A and B and I was happy. Put on LP #2 and side 3 was distorted. I noticed this when clash with reality came on as well. I really want to keep my copy, Sadly I may still take it back.

  • I have the same problem and came here to check on it. I was blown away by sides A & B. Not sure what happened with C. Such a bummer.

  • The sound is great except for one thing that really bugs me, the hissssss when Phil says a word with an S in it. So annoying... it's not on all songs but I notice it plenty of times. Record is clean, needle is clean and has plenty of life so it must just be my copy I guess. Other than that, the sound is pretty spot on and clean.

  • I have to say that this is a classic case of over selling an album on audiophile credits, when really it's not too amazing. It's not awful, but the top end is very splashy and there's a reasonable amount of thickening when it gets busy. I don't have the best set up in the world, but it is a fronted by a goldring 2200, a home built valve preamp, and dual monoblock Cyrus powering some oldish mission 782SE; just so you can have reference to what I'm using to make these assessments. To be blunt, my system doesn't thicken up under pressure, or fall into distortion hell. It has a huge power reserve and it just doesn't give in. So, this record is okay, but not at all amazing. It could be due to the source, but other records from the time (such as MOV's repressing of Korn- Life is peachy) shows not only how it can be done, but how good a hot pressed album can sound without falling into technical difficulties. Other than that, the album is awesome. It's bloody Pantera!

  • My copy sounds like a monster, with no issues whatsoever. A vast improvement on the original.

  • Side 3, track one skips like hell for me. The other two tracks on this side also skip, but less so. Anybody else have this issue?I assume it's because of the totally crushing sonic destruction coming from the band and not being correctly mastered for vinyl but I wanted to know for sure if I got a bad copy or not.

  • I had the same issue on just one of the 4 sides. The disc also wasn't crimped properly on the edge, seemed very slightly thicker than the other disc and had two labels printed in error on one side.I sent it back and the replacement is perfect - no skips at all.By the way, anyone else find the sleeves stupidly tight-fitting?I've noticed this with a few Rhino heavyweight re-issues. No sound issues i can think of but the presentation quality (manufacturing and packaging) is really not great.

  • Mine doesn't skip, but I have many "S" issues with that release. These issues don't appear in the other re release of pantera's albums.

  • I just listened to mine for comparison and it does skip a few times in succession during the intro of "Shattered" and maybe another 3 times 1st verse to mid song, even after using my dust brush twice on it. The other songs on Side 3 didn't skip at all.
